10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Spending $$$ On Skincare

✨Your skin is unique ✨— and your skincare should be too.

With so many products out there, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Before you spend your money, here are 10 key things to know to make smarter, skin-friendly choices:

  1. There is no such thing as “one for all” in skincare (one cleanser for all skin types. One serum, one night cream/moisturizer, etc) - Every skin is different. Find your skin type, your skin’s needs, what your skin doesn’t need, etc., and then find the cleanser, toner/essence, active/serum, moisturizer, etc for you.

  2. Your BEST skin involves the combination of these things: good nutrition (internal help), good skincare routine/habits (external help), and a good esthetician (professional external help). Understand that SOMETIMES, for various reasons or depending on the results you desire, medical help is also needed (whether it’s a dermatologist or a medical esthetician/injector)

  3. “Illusion skincare” is a real thing. - There is no “quick fix”, however there are products that will give an illusion of a solution to skin “issues”. Illusion skincare is great, but it doesn’t provide authentic repairing or regenerating of the skin. Make sure you are also using products that will truly heal/improve your skin, which takes time (and brings me to #4).

  4. Over time, your skincare routine should bring you results. If your routine is working, it will change your skin which means it will change your routine. - Refer back to #1.

  5. Your skin changes/varies not only as you age, but as seasons change. - Refer back to #1.

  6. Most influencers lose their “influence” when they start accepting sponsor/promotional contracts. - Following an influencer needs to involve your time to watch all videos and see if they contradict themselves or stay true to their statements (or at least give a disclaimer/reason for changing their mind). Example: We saw one medical esthetician influencer with a video stating eye creams are just moisturizers packaged in smaller bottles and twice the price, but then the same “skinfluencer” had another video promoting an eye cream.

  7. What’s the saying “it’s a marathon not a sprint”? This is so true in skincare! It takes time - but is worth it in the end!

  8. Your skin renews itself every 28-40 days from the natural shedding process (desquamation) - which means consistency in your routine matters more than quick fixes.

  9. Skin takes time to adjust to new products. It can take 4-6 weeks to truly see results so don’t give up too quickly.

  10. You can’t “outgrow acne” - it’s common in adults, too (due to stress, hormones, sleep, diet & health, etc, even face mites!) … so having something consistent to take care of your skin will help keep it clear.
